Winner of Annual African ICT Achievers Award – Civil Society
The efforts and success of the Kwa-Dukuza Resource Centre was recognized when it won the Annual African ICT Achievers Awards, run by ForgeAhead in partnership with the Department of Communications in the Civil Society – “to bridge the digital divide” category. The awards acknowledge and honor individuals and companies from across Africa who has made a meaningful contribution to ICT. The Kwa-Dukuza Resource Centre was one of three finalists, the other two being, Internet Society Chapter of Mauritius and Mosaic Software Africa.
The award recognized that the Kwa-Dukuza Resource Centre is providing access to ICT by disadvantaged people, and is seen as a leader in civil society that addresses the digital divide throughout Africa.
The Centre has formed partnerships with various corporate, businesses, and other organisations . Major examples of these successful partnerships are: Sappi, the initiator and principal donor, Microsoft, FNB Foundation, SASA, Murray and Roberts, Nedbank Foundation, Anglo American Chairman’s Fund, Internet Solutions, FIETA, Stanger Weekly, Sham and Meer, Horwath Mahomedy Omar Paruk, Stanger Textiles, Department of Education and the Dell Foundation.
