Career guidance is essential for the information and support learners need to make important career choices according to their ability level and available job opportunities. The Centre is committed to provide this essential service for learners and their parents.
Mr S. Sham, principal of the Gledhow Primary School, a qualified career counsellor, has volunteered his time since the inception of the Centre to provide career guidance and information on tertiary courses and institutions to learners and their parents. Appointments for career guidance are made through the Centre.
The Centre hosts an annual Career Day for Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners each year, where representatives from various tertiary institutions assist the learners with the procedure of filling out bursaries, application forms, financial aid applications, etc. and handout prospectus and highlight possible career paths. Industry professionals including a Sappi Stanger Mill representative and local entrepreneurs are also invited to address the learners on the different careers possibilities.
